About the job
The Manager, Cyber Platform Engineering leads the execution and operational excellence of core cybersecurity platforms that enable detection, response, identity protection, data protection, and security visibility across the enterprise. This role oversees the engineering, integration, and ongoing reliability of security tooling and platform services across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role partners closely with Security Operations, Threat Hunt & Detection, Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Cloud Services teams to ensure security platforms are resilient, well‑integrated, and continuously improved to meet evolving threats and compliance needs.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead day‑to‑day platform engineering execution for cybersecurity technologies, ensuring stable operations, consistent service delivery, and timely improvements.
Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, driving accountability, technical excellence and delivery of measurable outcomes.
Own the operational health of cyber platforms, including availability, performance, upgrades, patching coordination, configuration management, and lifecycle planning.
Oversee integrations and data flows between security platforms and enterprise systems to enable effective detection, response, automation, and reporting.
Partner with SOC, Incident Response, Threat Hunt & Detection, and Threat Intelligence teams to translate operational requirements into platform features, tuning, and roadmap items.
Establish and maintain platform engineering standards, deployment patterns, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks to improve consistency and supportability.
Drive reliability improvements through instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, and root‑cause analysis.
Lead remediation of platform incidents and recurring issues.
Ensure platforms meet security, privacy, and regulatory expectations through access controls, audit logging, evidence support, and adherence to internal change management processes.
Track and report platform service metrics (e.g., uptime, ingestion completeness, integration health, backlog burn‑down), escalating risks and constraints to senior leadership.
Identify opportunities for modernization and efficiency (e.g., automation, self‑service, standardization) to reduce manual effort and improve time‑to‑value for Cyber Defense teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years of experience in platform engineering, security engineering, infrastructure engineering, or operations roles supporting enterprise technology platforms.
Prior experience serving as a technical lead with accountability for delivery, prioritization, and operational outcomes or leading engineers.
Strong understanding of enterprise production operations, including change management, incident/problem management, configuration management, and service reliability practices.
Working knowledge of cloud and hybrid environments and how enterprise services are deployed, secured, and operated at scale.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate platform constraints into practical options and tradeoffs.
Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting cybersecurity platforms used by security operations and engineering teams (e.g., SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, identity security, vulnerability management, data protection, security posture management).
Familiarity with designing resilient integrations and telemetry pipelines that support monitoring, detection, and investigative workflows.
Exposure to automation and infrastructure‑as‑code practices to improve repeatability and reduce operational risk.
Experience operating platforms in regulated or highly controlled environments (e.g., healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing) with strong audit and evidence requirements.
Demonstrated success improving platform reliability and service maturity through metrics, standardization, and continuous improvement.
Relevant certifications in cloud, security, or platform engineering disciplines.
