The Site Manager in an Owner's Engineer assignment is instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of AFRY’s services. Their primary purpose is to manage the day-to-day operations on the project site, monitor progress, and collaborate with the EPC contractor to deliver a successful project outcome.&nbsp;Responsibilities/Duties (inclusive of but not limited to):&nbsp;<ul><li>Take overall responsibility for the successful execution of the site supervision works. Ensure that project objectives, timelines, and quality standards are met.</li><li>Receive and implement instructions and cooperate in all activities with AFRY teams in accordance with the instructions of the Project Manager and AFRY Home Office. Be single point of contact for the site activities to the Project Manager and to the Engineering Manager for support.</li><li>Be single point of contact to Client’s Site Manager and Contractor’s Site Manager</li><li>Review the Contractor’s Project Management Documentation, such as Project Progress Measurement Procedure, Contractor’s Work and Quality Control Procedures, Master Time Schedule.</li><li>Ensure strict adherence of the project procedures, technical and administrative, issued by the Home Office and the Project Manager. In case of difficulties in application of such instructions, the Project Manager shall be consulted before any other actions are being taken.</li><li>Manage and coordinate AFRY’s site team and site activities, during the construction, installation, testing and commissioning phases. Based in Athens, Greece, working in a hybrid work model and reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate will take a leading role in shaping complex, high-impact digital solutions.Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:<ul><li>Lead the design, architecture, and development of complex, custom WordPress plugins and themes</li><li>Architect and implement scalable, high-performance solutions for high-traffic, content-rich websites</li><li>Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance</li><li>Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from technical planning and estimation to deployment</li><li>Optimize application performance by leveraging tools such as Redis and Elasticsearch</li><li>Champion development best practices, coding standards, and robust deployment processes</li><li>Collaborate with project managers and clients to translate business requirements into technical specifications</li><li>Any other task that may be required from time to time</li></ul>Professional experience &amp; qualifications of a successful candidate:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field</li><li>At least 5 years of professional&nbsp;web development experience&nbsp;with a strong focus on&nbsp;WordPress</li><li>Proficiency in PHP, WordPress plugin/theme APIs, and the WordPress ecosystem</li><li>Proven track record building and maintaining large-scale, high-traffic websites</li><li>Excellent command of modern JavaScript (ES6+), CSS, and ideally TypeScript</li><li>Professional experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework, preferably Angular</li><li>Deep understanding of MySQL and experience writing efficient, complex queries</li><li>Solid experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins)</li><li>Strong leadership skills and a passion for mentoring other developers</li><li>Fundamental understanding of the full web stack and commitment to writing clean, maintainable code</li><li>Fluency in Greek and proficiency in English, both written and spoken</li></ul>Core competencies of a successful candidate:<ul><li>Leadership and mentoring abilities</li><li>Highly organized and delivery-focused</li><li>Problem-solver with a proactive mindset</li><li>Adaptable and thrives in fast-paced environments</li><li>Committed to continuous improvement and team enablement</li></ul>Apply Now
