accountant for a client

Our client is a fast-growing engineering, Constructing, Consulting and Operating company of Environmental projects and Plants, related to Water, Waste Water, Solid Waste and Energy from Renewable sources. Within their 24-year experience, they have implemented more than 200 projects and manage more than 40 waste treatment and recycling plants. With 500+ employees across multiple locations in Greece, the company experienced a 35% annual increase in turnover from 2021 onwards and achieved €134 million turnover in 2023. Currently undergoing a restructuring phase, they are looking to strengthen their Financial Department Team.

General Information about the position:

• Τax monitoring of small legal entities &  joint ventures
• The desirable experience level is that of an experienced associate or mid-level
• Full-time & five-day work
• Work exclusively on-site in central Athens ( metro/electrical station nearby)
• The position reports to the Accounting & Tax Compliance Manager

Key responsibilities :

• Supporting, monitoring & execution of day-to-day accounting and tax procedures
• Posting transactions in a double-entry system using ERP (SAP / Atlas)
• Issuance of revenue invoices & submittion via myDATA
• Preparation & filing of VAT, VIES, INTRASTAT declarations along with imports/exports
• Preparation & Filing of withholding tax returns
• Preparation & Filing of tax duty returns
• Reconciliation of myDATA and VAT / E3
• Participate actively in financial statement year-end processes
• Preparation & Filing of income tax returns (N, E2, E3, Tax adjustments, etc)
• Reconciliations of ERP management reports and General Ledger
• Dealing with day-to-day tax cases, resolving issues promptly
• Financial and management reporting support, ad hoc accounting and tax reporting
• Maintaining the physical record
• Support on ad hoc issues to the Accounting & Tax Compliance Manager

Optional 

• Familiar with Social Security Laws in construction Sector & Detail Periodic Statements of Sub-contractors.
• Dealing with construction project insurance obligations.
• Reconciliation of company’s books with Social Security Institute Record (per construction site).

Essential qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience
• University degree in Finance/Accounting/Financial Economics/Financial Management
• Strong understanding of Greek GAAP (ELP), along with tax legislation profound knowledge
• Knowledge of IFRS will be considered an asset
• Experience with SAP will be considered an asset
• Attention to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
• Strong sense of responsibility and confidentiality
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Good knowledge of English
• Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills
• Problem solving abilities and initiative
