Class Teacher

ACS Athens, a student-centered international school embracing American educational philosophy, principles, and values, is seeking to recruit a Kindergarten Aide to support learning in the Elementary School. The Kindergarten Aide reports to the Elementary School Principal and works closely with classroom teachers and students to promote a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Classroom Support: Assist teachers with daily classroom activities, including project development, student exhibitions of learning, classroom performances, and instructional initiatives.</li><li>Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small-group assistance to students to support academic, social, and project-based learning needs.</li><li>Instructional Assistance: Support classroom lessons and initiatives to ensure students successfully complete assigned work.</li><li>Material Management: Perform para-professional tasks related to the preparation, organization, and use of classroom materials and programs.</li><li>Individual Student Needs: Work closely with students who require additional guidance or support within the classroom.</li><li>Monitoring &amp; Supervision Duties:<ul><li>Daily recess duty</li><li>Daily lunch duty</li><li>Daily DayCare PJ/JK supervision</li><li>Morning Arrival (8:15–9:00 a.m.): Escort PJ/KG students from the front gate to the Early Childhood playground</li><li>Dismissal (3:40 p.m.): Escort students from classrooms to the designated drop-off point at the back playground</li></ul></li><li>Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Elementary School Principal. </li></ul>Independence of Operation:<ul><li>Work within Elementary School and Kindergarten team procedures while responding flexibly to the needs of students and the school environment.</li><li>Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills in daily activities in alignment with school guidelines.</li><li>Keep the Elementary School Principal informed of daily activities.</li><li>Completed work is reviewed by the Elementary School Principal and Assistant Principal. </li></ul>Work Relationships:<ul><li>Internal: Students, teachers, and the Elementary School main office. </li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree.</li><li>Minimum of two years of experience working with elementary-aged children.</li><li>Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices.</li><li>Computer literacy and ability to support technology use in the classroom.</li><li>Fluency in English and Greek.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Demonstrated strong work ethic, flexibility, and ability to work collaboratively.</li></ul>

KG Teacher Aide

The position is full-time for one year and may be renewable upon agreement of all parties. The successful candidate will directly report to the Academic Dean and have a record of professional experience that demonstrates the ability to undertake the following:<ul><li>Develop a mission that supports the particular goals of the Division and ACT’s broader goals.</li><li>Build strong relationships with the community.</li><li>Represent the interests of the Science &amp; Technology Division to ACT’s administration and outside constituencies.</li><li>Provide a key communication link between the ACT administration and Division faculty.</li><li>Develop partnerships with other universities.</li><li>Promote excellence in teaching, research and service.</li><li>Oversee the departmental assessment process and conduct periodic program reviews.</li><li>Oversee accreditation &amp; validation reviews.</li><li>Drive program development, evaluation and growth.</li><li>Oversee external grants, special programs and development projects.</li><li>Coordinate the division’s curricula with the relevant coordinator(s).</li><li>Assist in hiring new faculty.</li><li>Oversee faculty development and evaluation.</li><li>Assist in new student recruitment.</li><li>Oversee retention of majors.</li><li>Oversee student affairs, including advising and internships.</li><li>Develop and monitor the Division budget.</li></ul>Position Requirements<ul><li>A doctoral Degree in an academic area that relates to the Science and Technology division. Preference will be given to candidates with background in the broad area of computing.</li><li>Demonstrated record of academic and professional achievement in higher education.</li><li>Demonstrated record of successful leadership and administrative experience in academic settings.</li><li>Excellent command of the English language.</li><li>Excellence in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Interest and experience in developing partnerships with schools in the US and with the community in Greece.</li><li>Demonstrated teaching experience and ability to teach in one of the areas offered by the Science and Technology Division. A minimum of six years of university/college level teaching experience or other relevant work experience is required.
