What you'll do
- Deliver RYA courses following RYA regulations and company standards
- Deliver company-specific courses according to standards, policies, and procedures
- Instruct and participate in flotilla hero product as required
- Meet and greet guests and conduct welcome brief on board
- Carry out basic yacht maintenance tasks
- Liaise with Chief Instructor and report maintenance issues or yacht damage
- Maintain standards of sailing school yachts including cleaning, inventory monitoring, and maintenance
- Complete accurate paperwork complying with local laws and regulations
- Provide excellent customer service
- Perform other duties as requested within your ability
Key requirements
- RYA Cruising Instructor Certification with commercial endorsement
- Valid Medical Certificate (ENG1/ML5)
- Valid First Aid Certificate or equivalent
- Recent Criminal Record Check (ACRO or DBS)
- Yacht Maintenance Skills
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
- Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Customer Service Experience
- Flexibility and Reliability
- Ability to Work Under Pressure and Make Decisions

Our skippered charters will work with a large variety of customers, from proficient sailors who would like somebody on-board to tackle the hard work and provide their unrivalled local knowledge and expertise, to customers who have never sailed before and are looking to relax and enjoy the adventure, whilst knowing they are in safe hands. Customers can get as involved in the sailing as they like, whilst enjoying the turquoise waters, buzzy harbours, and endless horizons.
Living on board with the customers, our bareboat skippers are required to plan and adapt the charters itinerary dependent on each customer’s preferences, weather forecasts, and perhaps even any secret hidden local gems.
