About the job

We are currently looking for a Senior Procurement Engineer (Steel Structures & Building Equipment)  to join our  Procurement team as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen  in our offices in Paiania. 

Your role will encompass: 

  • Lead and implement procurement strategies for metal and steel construction packages, equipment, and components in large, EPC‑driven energy projects.

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to align procurement plans with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.

  • Perform market analysis and supplier scouting to identify qualified vendors with proven capability in metal constructions.

  • Manage the supplier prequalification, evaluation, and selection process, assessing cost, quality, delivery capability, technical compliance, and risk.

  • Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing, delivery terms, contractual conditions, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Issue RFQs / RFPs, evaluate technical and commercial bids, and prepare award recommendations.

  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen long‑term strategic supplier relationships, ensuring performance and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure full compliance with company procurement policies, contractual frameworks, and ethical standards.

What you bring to the role: 

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement of steel and metal constructions (fabrication, assemblies, structural steel, etc.), ideally within EPC, energy, heavy industry, or infrastructure sectors.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with TEKLA or similar metal construction / detailing software will be considered a strong asset.

  • Solid knowledge of procurement processes, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
