What you'll do
- Generate ideas for stories and features from various sources
- Pitch story ideas to chief editors
- Research, verify, and collate evidence and information for stories
- Identify and manage technical crews for location shoots
- Provide directorial input to filming crews
- Operate portable digital video (DV) cameras and related equipment
- Produce complete packages for broadcast
- Prepare and present material on air for pre-recorded and live segments
- Identify potential interviewees and conduct interviews
- Collaborate with editors to complete programmes or items
- Develop and maintain local contacts and assume public relations duties
- Understand and comply with media law and industry codes of conduct
