Your role as a Database Engineer will focus to engage with changes/fixes to the overall database(s) in a series of applications used by the client, providing support for production, Preproduction and Disaster Recovery environments, taking into consideration high availability and performance of databases. Work with other teams as Development, Architecture, Applications Support and infrastructure in analysis, design and definition of physical data bases. Design and keep disaster recovery plans. You will commit to personal learning and development by actively seeking opportunities for growth, you will share knowledge and experience with others. Responsibilities: • Maintain the build of database systems of high availability and quality addressing requirements and in accordance with information needs and views • Addressing needs for enabling data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner • Propose techniques to minimize database downtime and parameters to provide fast query responses • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity • Monitor database performance, implement changes and request new patches and versions as required • Provide support to the daily operations, help in troubleshooting and resolve incidents that will be documented in accordance to the client procedure • Work within established configuration and change management policies and process to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the databases • Understand high availability and disaster recovery solutions to guarantee the business continuity • Keep updated detailed documentation of environments that are supported. Document procedures to implements, troubleshooting or configurations that must be applied to databases. • Propose improvement solutions on database structure and implementations • Propose database migration plans Qualifications Qualifications: • A Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science/IT or related field • 3+ years of hands-on database experience preferably in Microsoft SQL Server/IBM DB2 • Experience in SQL PaaS environment • Experience in high availability topologies and data replication mechanisms and techniques • Experience in using Database Monitoring tools • Familiarity with Root causes analysis processes • Strong capabilities on review, diagnostic and resolve problems of performance of query tuning issues, locking, deadlocks, jobs execution. • Strong capabilities on translating systems and business requirements into database designs (sequence, classes, flow, conceptual views) • Strong capabilities on IT requirements traceability Additional soft skills required: • Familiarity with insurance industry business processes • Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed • Strong motivation • Organizational skills, resourcefulness, and creativity • Being team working oriented • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Flexibility, willingness to travel • Fluency in English Our team makes a difference, every time.
