The University of Nicosia invites applications for the position of IT Systems Administrator / Senior IT Support Officer at the UNIC Athens Campus. This role combines daily end-user support with hands-on systems administration responsibilities, supporting faculty, staff, students, classrooms, and offices, while assisting with core infrastructure and IT operations.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students for hardware, software, printing, connectivity, classroom technology, and standard business applications.</li><li>Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user devices, peripherals, and software.</li><li>Support Microsoft 365 administration, including Teams, email, MFA, user accounts, licensing, and access-related issues.</li><li>Assist with Active Directory administration, including user accounts, group policies, DNS, DHCP, and file services.</li><li>Install, configure, and support Windows Server environments and assist with server patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.</li><li>Support NAS/storage platforms, backup procedures, and basic disaster recovery checks.</li><li>Perform basic network troubleshooting for wired and wireless connectivity, including VLAN assignments, IP addressing, and switch port checks.</li><li>Coordinate with the central IT and Network Teams for escalations, infrastructure changes, and service incidents.</li><li>Maintain documentation for systems, devices, procedures, and support requests.</li><li>Contribute to improving IT procedures, operational standards, and user support quality.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.</li><li>At least 2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar technical role.</li><li>Good knowledge of Windows desktop and Windows Server environments.</li><li>Experience with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration.</li><li>Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switches, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.</li><li>Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.</li><li>Fluency in Greek and English, both written and spoken.</li></ul>Preferred / Advantageous Skills<ul><li>Experience with Hyper-V, VMware, or server virtualization technologies.</li><li>Experience with NAS/storage solutions such as QNAP or Synology.</li><li>Familiarity with Fortinet firewalls or Juniper/Mist environments.</li><li>Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, CCNA, Fortinet NSE, JNCIA, or ITIL.</li></ul>Personal Attributes<ul><li>Professional, reliable, and service-oriented.</li><li>Hands-on, organized, and able to prioritize effectively.</li><li>Able to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.</li><li>Comfortable supporting users directly while also handling technical administration tasks.</li><li>Willing to grow into broader infrastructure responsibilities.</li></ul>
