As an NTTE – Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and delivering the core transmission network at country level, ensuring it meets both local market demands and global network requirements. The role focuses on optical network technologies (mainly fibre and DWDM), aligning global guidelines with local needs, optimizing costs, and ensuring high-quality, resilient connectivity for both retail and enterprise/wholesale services.
More specifically, you will:
Adapt and implement Group CoE and Network Evolution guidelines for DWDM and fiber networks, ensuring alignment with local market needs, constraints, and network requirements.
Plan and manage core transmission network capacity and investments, including dimensioning, budgeting, and prioritization of DWDM and fiber infrastructure.
Lead vendor and partner management across the full lifecycle, including RFQs, technical evaluations, contract support, infrastructure agreements, and ongoing performance/roadmap management.
Drive cost optimization initiatives (CAPEX & OPEX) by improving network efficiency, reducing leased line costs, and leveraging infrastructure sharing and exchange opportunities with external operators.
Design and deliver core transmission solutions (fiber, DWDM, SDH where applicable) to support enterprise and wholesale connectivity needs, ensuring alignment with Group standards.
Ensure quality, resilience, and robustness of network solutions, in line with service quality and reliability requirements.
Manage local execution and operations, including work-ordering, partner coordination, and overall capacity and budget control.
Who you are
You have a deep understanding of optical network protocols like GMPLS, ASON and SNCP
You have experience with DWDM network architectures (i.e. FOADM/ROADM/PON/fixed and flex grid), signal flow and capabilities (C/CD/CDC).
You have experience and expertise in high-speed optical transmission, DWDM system design, architecture, and testing, experience in high capacity, high-channel-count, DWDM optical transmission systems.
You should have familiarity with optical simulation and dimensioning tools
You have knowledge of Nokia and Huawei optical products
You understand of interdependencies, restrictions and priorities in the deployment of optical transmission networks
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Engineering degree or similar
Deep technical know-how in transmission area, especially in optical networks, DWDM technology, etc.
Experience in optical networks design
Working in multi-national, multi-cultural teams
Fluent English
