UNIC Athens, the University of Nicosia's academic and research base in Greece, combining internationally ranked teaching with state-of-the-art facilities, is seeking a Social Media Manager to join its team.

The successful candidate will plan, produce, and optimise UNIC’s social media presence in Cyprus and Greece, and support other priority markets as needed, across priority platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and emerging platforms. Engage prospective and current students, alumni, faculty and staff, research centres, corporate partners, schools, and regulators. Lead social media strategy, editorial planning, community management, and social listening for UNIC and selected EDEX units. Produce or commission original content, including short form video, manage influencer and ambassador programmes, and ensure accessibility, bilingual post copy and video subtitles in English and Greek, and compliance with GDPR and platform policies. The role operates at both strategic and hands-on levels.

 

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning:

 

  • Develop and own the social media strategy aligned with UNIC’s brand, recruitment cycles, and research communications.

  • Maintain a rolling editorial calendar with bilingual copy, text, subtitles or captions, using accessibility-first practices.

  • Prioritise audiences by segment and market, applying channel fit and clear campaign objectives.

  • Social media channel management including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, and emerging platforms.

Measurement and Reporting:

 

  • Deliver quarterly performance reports with insights, actions, and benchmarking.

  • Track funnel metrics from reach to conversion, including event registrations and translate performance into recommendations.

 

Governance and Operations:

 

  • Ensure adherence to platform advertising policies, GDPR, and University brand and editorial standards.

  • Manage vendor and creator contracts, scopes, and invoices in line with financial processes.

 

Website:

 

  • Update News and Events listings on the official websites.

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

  • Stay current with social media trends, tools, and best practices, and recommend tests where beneficial.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

  • Support colleagues in other marketing activities when needed

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Media, Marketing, Communications, or related field.

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum five years of relevant working experience managing multi-channel social media for a brand or institution.

  • Demonstrable track record of running a podcast/vodcast.

  • Demonstrable track record of effective management of Twitter/X accounts. 

Required Skills:

 

  • Professional fluency in English and Greek, including copywriting

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly developed analytical, technical, computer, oral and written communication skills, use high-level persuasion and negotiation skills.

  • Apply expert knowledge of social media concepts, practices and procedures of specialty field(s) to achieve objectives

  • Highly organised with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities concurrently.

  • Experience running ambassador or influencer programmes and managing agencies.

Tools and Platforms:

 

  • Meta Business Suite, TikTok Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, YouTube Studio, X.

  • Social publishing and listening tools for example Hootsuite or Brandwatch.

  • Creative tools for lightweight editing and captioning, for example Canva.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
