part-time instructor in typography and motion graphics (theory and/or practice)

The Frances Rich School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Deree – The American College of Greece, is seeking a Part-Time Instructor to teach Graphic Design courses in the Arts and Creative Industries Department.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Master’s degree (MA, MDes, MFA, or equivalent) in Motion Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Digital Media Arts, or a related field.

• Terminal degree (such as MFA, MDes, or PhD) strongly preferred.

• Equivalent professional experience in kinetic typography and motion graphics will also be considered.

Experience:

• Professional experience in motion graphics, kinetic typography, animation, or visual communication design.

• Teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate programs, preferably at an English-speaking institution.

• At least one degree from a US or UK institution.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in motion design, type in motion, and animation tools.

Knowledge:

• The ideal candidate should have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Kinetic Typography (conceptual and technical execution)

• Motion Design Principles (timing, pacing, transitions)

• Adobe After Effects and relevant Adobe Creative Cloud tools

• Storytelling through type and motion

• Typography in digital and print environments

• Creative Coding for Motion (e.g., Processing, p5.js, GSAP)

• Experimental Motion Design and Narrative Design

• Fundamentals of Animation

• Integration of Theory and Practice in Design Education

General Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong command of spoken and written English.

• Commitment to student-centered, interactive teaching with an emphasis on professional and interpersonal communication.

• Passion for innovative pedagogy and fostering a dynamic, inclusive learning environment.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

• Potential for scholarly research engagement.

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

• Experience with online and hybrid teaching.

• Active engagement with motion design, typography, or animation communities.

• Demonstrated ability to integrate theory and practice in design education.

• Familiarity with emerging tools and platforms in motion design, AR/VR, or generative design.
