The American College of Greece (ACG) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking professional to serve as Director of Information Technology (IT). The Director of IT at ACG is a strategic and operational leader responsible for advancing the College’s digital infrastructure, technology services, and academic technology ecosystem. This senior role ensures that IT services support and enhance the student experience, enable effective teaching and research, and drive institutional innovation and efficiency. The Director will oversee IT strategy, service delivery, and the implementation of robust, secure, and scalable systems across the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with ACG’s academic mission, strategic goals, and operational needs.

  • Anticipate future technology trends in higher education and ensure the College remains forward-looking in its digital capabilities.

  • Partner with senior leadership to prioritize investments in infrastructure, systems, and services that support ACG’s growth and academic quality.

Academic Technology & Student Learning Support

  • Lead the planning, support, and continuous improvement of learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), instructional design tools, and virtual learning platforms.

  • Ensure seamless integration and support of academic systems such as student information systems (SIS), classroom technologies, research data management systems, and digital libraries.

  • Collaborate with academic leaders and faculty to promote the effective use of technology in teaching, learning, and research.

  • Support student success by ensuring user-centered IT services that are responsive, inclusive, and accessible.

IT Infrastructure & Operations

  • Oversee campus-wide IT operations, including network and systems infrastructure, cybersecurity, data management, help desk services, and enterprise applications.

  • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of all IT services and platforms, supporting both administrative and academic needs.

  • Lead digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving institutional efficiency and user experience.

Project & Vendor Management

  • Direct large-scale IT projects, including implementation of new systems, infrastructure upgrades, and digital modernization efforts.

  • Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, service-level agreements, and technology procurement.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Establish and enforce policies and practices to ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR).

  • Lead risk assessments, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity strategies.

Artificial Intelligence Strategy & Integration

  • Develop and lead ACG’s AI strategy to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and machine learning tools to automate processes, improve data-driven decision making, and personalize digital experiences.

Leadership, Collaboration & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and empower a high-performing IT team; foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT and other institutional units, translating technology strategy into academic and administrative value.

  • Promote professional development opportunities for IT staff and support digital fluency initiatives for faculty, staff, and students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in information technology, preferably in a higher education setting.

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to evaluate, implement, and oversee AI-driven technologies and tools.

  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a forward-looking, innovative mindset.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse academic and administrative stakeholders.

  • Adaptable to emerging trends and new technologies, with a willingness to learn and evolve.
