Περιγραφή Θέσης
The Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) oversees and is responsible for the co-curricular experience of students across both the Lower and Upper Schools. We promote a lifelong love of learning and aim for our students to develop intellectual, social, physical, and creative skills, preparing them for global citizenship.
The Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) is a key driver of standards and consistency across the school's co-curricular programmes and ensures close and effective communication with the Deputy Head (Academic) and Deputy Head (Pastoral). A commitment to the close alignment between the academic, pastoral, and co-curricular aspects of school life is vital. The Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) chairs meetings of co-curricular leaders to build and maintain a shared vision of the school's approach to holistic education.
The Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) is responsible to the Deputy Headteacher/Head of Upper School and is part of the wider whole school Senior Leadership Team. The role carries significant delegated responsibility and will involve independent management decisions as appropriate.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive co-curricular strategy that aligns with our mission to "foster learning with a rich curriculum that develops intellectual, social, physical, and creative skills, preparing students for global citizenship."
- Line management of the heads of co-curricular departments.
- Lead, monitor, and ensure the quality of all lunchtime and after-school clubs, ensuring progression and coherence from Lower School to Upper School.
- Collaborate with academic staff to integrate co-curricular activities into the broader curriculum, enhancing students' learning experiences.
- Make a significant contribution to discussions about strategy, such as the annual identification of whole school priorities.
- Establish and lead a lecture series featuring visiting speakers to enrich the intellectual environment.
- Work closely with the Head of Physical Education to enhance the school's sports provision, including a diverse range of sports, a robust fixture programme, and pathways for both elite athletes and general participation.
- Support the Heads of Theatre and Music to ensure excellence and progression in productions, concerts, and music ensembles.
- Act as the Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC), ensuring all trips are safe, worthwhile, and enriching.
- Work with the Deputy Head (Pastoral) of the Upper School and Deputy Head of the Lower School to maintain and strengthen strategies that lead to good behaviour and high performance by pupils.
- Work with the Deputy Headteacher/Head of Upper School to ensure that the School’s co-curricular provision is fully compliant with ISI regulations and standards, as well as making sure that preparation for ISI inspections is thorough.
- Be part of developing our curriculum offering and future development projects to ensure that academic quality is front and centre.
- Teach a reduced timetable in a specialist subject to maintain engagement with students and staff.
While the above includes a description of the essential functions of the position, other duties may be assigned by the Head of Upper School or the Headteacher as appropriate.
