The Accountant role is a pivotal role within the organization that reports directly to the Chief Accountant. This person will be a core member of the wider finance team and play a key part in supporting and strengthening the accounting function. Having a transactional responsibility, is the one that sets the foundations of doing things right the first time and ensures the quality of the financial information. This person needs to work closely with the whole organization and with the full finance team, to have a clear understanding of the impact of its work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

  • BUSINESS PARTNER MANAGEMENT

    • Ensures daily sub-ledger postings are on-time and correct.

    • Ensures daily payments are cleared on time and against the appropriate reference entries.

    • Expense reports recording in SAP FI Reviews all ledgers daily and ensures accuracy in month-end closing.

    • Closely monitors AP days and ensures liquidity.

    • Performs all necessary month end closing procedures so as to ensure that balances are complete and accurate.

    • Prepares the liquidity forecast on a regular basis, ensuring that adequate cash is available for the business to continue to operate.

    • Responsible for liquidity forecast submission to HQ, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

  • FIXED ASSET MANAGEMENT

    • Responsibility for the fixed assets management procedure, including creating, transferring, disposing (write-off) and selling of fixed assets.

    • Responsibility for coordinating the annual stocktaking process and for completing the asset count reconciliation.

    • Management of Fixed assets registers in SAP, ensuring accuracy and integrity.

    • Coordinate with Operations team to review CAPEX list of advertising material bi-annually.

  • GENERAL LEDGER MANAGEMENT

    • Ensures that all general ledger accounts is in line with IFRS, Local GAAP and controlling guidelines.

    • Clearing and reviewing all open items of GL accounts monthly.

    • Support month-end closing processes.

  • OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensures accounting functions are up to date with regulatory changes.

    • Ensures compliance and implementation of new and existing accounting policies.

    • Ensures all accounting processes are followed and where appropriate improved, with required documentation and internal controls being put in place.

    • Ensures that all postings are performed in compliance with Group Controlling Guidelines and Tax Regulations Supports month end and year end closing.

    • Ensures account transactions accuracy and efficiency.

    • Assists with queries from, and delivery of data to, internal and external auditors.

    • Assists with year-end audit queries.

EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise

that matter most for this role:

  • At least 3-5 years of in-house experience with the FMCG industry, with experience across full Balance Sheet and P&L.

  • Prior experience in an accounting or finance support role, ideally within a structured finance team will be considered a plus.

  • Solid track record in preparing and submitting statutory tax filings, including Corporate Income Tax Statement, VAT, Withholding taxes and EDOEAP.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in partnering with stakeholders.

  • Confident in identifying, resolving and escalating key points and issues.

  • Be autonomous, able to work independently, be solutions-driven, organized, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Be self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to strive within a team and have a team success mindset.

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward repetitive tasks and sees value in "getting things right the first time."

  • Willingness to occasionally perform tasks outside the office, such as handling banking matters or submitting declarations to Tax Authorities.

  • Working experience as SAP user with solid knowledge across many SAP modules is mandatory.

  • IT literate, with excellent MS Excel working knowledge.
