We are currently looking for a Senior Category Specialist to join our Commercial team and report to our Snr. Category Manager.
Your role as a Senior Category Specialist
As a Senior Category Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the development of our product team. By analyzing sales data, as well as building and maintaining relationships with our key suppliers, you will be responsible for providing pet parents with the best products that will meet our beloved pets’ needs. Your analytical thinking, forecasting, and strong communication skills, as well as your knowledge of pet products and sales principles, aligned with your love for pets, will help you stand out in this role!
Key Responsibilities
Developing the product category and analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities
Coordinating with suppliers’ product selection, pricing, and promotion (evaluation / score of current product mix)
Negotiating with the suppliers and suggesting annual promo plans
Developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers, as well as negotiating terms with them
Implementing the key category/product refresh projects
Creating merchandising guidelines for each category/store format/channel
Constantly monitoring competitors for promos, pricing changes and suggest actions
Supporting and mentoring the Product Specialists team
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management or Marketing field
1-3 years’ experience in a similar role; prior experience in Category roles will be considered plus
Knowledge of Vision Merchandising Tools and ERP software
Excellent understanding of sales in pet retail market and knowledge in pet products
Competency in English (written and oral)
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Analytical thinking and forecasting skills
Time management and organizational skills
Ability to manage a small team
