Impact:
• Responsible for the success of a group of self-organising agile teams of various functions, aimed to develop and deliver new features and functionality with
consideration to best practices, existing processes, and CI/CD principles.
• Operates with significant management responsibility opposite senior OpenBet stakeholders.
• Ability to work with and influence senior stakeholders - managing upwards.
• Adept at empowering others to lead and developing management skills in others.
• Supports company forecasting through, for example, managing team size, utilisation and reporting.
• Supports commercial aspects of their area of ownership including contractual matters, licensing agreements and audits.
• Motivating and driving the team with technical leadership and vision
• Enforces Continuous Integration and High Quality / Fast Feedback principles
• Proactively gathers internal and external stakeholder perspective and presents alternative solutions.
• Identifies and manages internal and external stakeholders, 3rd parties and other OpenBet departments in relation to their teams’ work and effectively drives
through consensus decisions.
• Ensures teams’ ability to consistently deliver within agreed timescales.
Communication:
• Capable of independently leading departmental change projects through liaison and coordination across internal and external teams
• Capable of contributing to a business plan with awareness of stakeholder context and consideration for investment/return strategy.
• Able to lead discussions and advise business owners on the relative strengths of different approaches.
• Capable of proactively managing stakeholders’ expectations.
• Builds strong working relationships with key stakeholders and experts outside of the department.
• Acting as the escalation point, managing communications and ability to have difficult/political discussions with external stakeholders
• Experience in coordinating Production Incidents of high priority
Innovation:
• Manage feedback from teams and ensures processes and technical improvements are followed through with guidance from senior management
• Ensure implementation of new innovations and that they adhere to engineering best practices such as CI, automated testing, performance and security
• Proactively supports teams to identify technical debt and inefficiencies in the platform
• Enables teams to improve Continuous Integration and High Quality / Fast Feedback principles
Leadership & Autonomy:
• Capable of managing through other managers; managing large and / or multiple teams within their department.
• Operates independently with significant responsibility as the primary decision maker for one or more teams, platforms, products or major projects.
• Adept at empowering others to lead and coach management skills to others.
• Acts as a role model to promote the OpenBet culture and motivate their teams.
• Lead shaping software engineering practices and processes
• Accountable for the implementation and deployment of development work
• Owns (maybe shared) customer relationships on behalf of OpenBet and makes day to day decisions that have implications for business relationships and
commercial consequences (OpenServices).
• Supports company forecasting through, for example, managing team size, utilisation and reporting.
• Participating in interviews for senior members of the department.
Knowledge & Experience:
• Knowledge of Agile Principles, experience in leading efficiently multiple co-dependent Agile Teams or experience with the Scaled Agile or LESS frameworks
• Experience and ability to understand high-level architecture of complex systems and platforms of distributed architecture with multiple integration points
• Adept at line and people management, from recruitment through to appraisals, salary reviews and performance management. Experienced and sensitive in
handling difficult conversations.
• Experience in overseeing engineering practices implemented by the teams in multiple disciplines (Dev, QA, Analysis, SRE, Integration) and following the
company standards and strategies.
• Supports finance in submission of capitalisable investment, R&D tax credits, provision of revenue share data and forecasting of license fees
