development lead

As a Development Lead you will be a part of our OpenServices team with a focus on one of our key accounts, leading a team of Software and QA Engineers developing new features and maintaining the customers’ core Sportsbook. 

What you’ll be doing 

·                Technical leadership: Understand the platform and technologies used and guide future direction 

·                Team leadership: Coaching, support, and development of the team 

·                Customer liaison: A trusted point of contact between OpenBet professional service teams, our customers, and partners 

·                Incidents: Management of, and escalation path for live production incidents. 

·                Line Management: Line management of 6 - 12 technical resources including pastoral care, formal reviews and both identification and provisioning of training needs 

 
Key Tasks 

·                Build and maintain functionality for our sports platform 

·                Manage a mixed team of approximately 5 Software and QA Engineers 

·                Manage and contribute to technical end-to-end delivery of projects 

·                Become a primary point of contact for and maintain strong relationships with both external and internal stake holders 

·                Lead design and code reviews, set coding standards and ensure they are met by deliverables 

·                Ensure engineering best practice principles are always applied 

·                Design solutions that are compatible with the strategic direction of the company 

·                Collaborate with other teams within the account and company. 

The Player 

Key Success Factors 

·                5+ years of experience building web applications and 2+ years experience managing development teams 

·                Experience interacting with customers, external partners and business stakeholders 

·                Demonstrable talent coding – This is a leadership role, but technical proficiency is required. 

·                Good knowledge of large-scale website or application architectures and technology stacks 

·                Experience with various development methodologies; Agile, TDD or Kanban 

Nice to Haves 

·                Performance tuning skills, including refactoring, code profiling and monitoring 

·                Automated testing and CI/CD 

·                Release management and configuration management experience 

·                Web technologies and internet protocols (XML, JSON, HTTP, TCP/IP)
