The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the Engineering Manager in ensuring the safe, reliable, and discreet operation of all resort facilities in line with One&Only standards. The role provides daily leadership to a multidisciplinary technical team of approximately 20 technicians and plays a key part in delivering preventive and corrective maintenance to the highest levels of quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
This position is instrumental in preserving the integrity, functionality, and aesthetic excellence of the resort, while protecting the guest experience and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Operations & Leadership
• Support the Engineering Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department.
• Lead, coordinate, and supervise a multidisciplinary technical team across morning and afternoon shifts.
• Plan, prioritize, assign, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Provide leadership coverage for the Engineering department during assigned shifts, ensuring operational continuity.
• Ensure all engineering works are executed professionally, discreetly, and in alignment with One&Only service philosophy.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
• Ensure full adherence to the preventive maintenance program across guest rooms, villas, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
• Lead prompt and effective resolution of corrective maintenance issues, minimizing operational disruption and guest impact.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify defects, safety risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports using the CMMS.
Guest Experience & Collaboration
• Ensure engineering support is intuitive, responsive, and largely invisible to the guest.
• Collaborate closely with Rooms, Housekeeping, Front Office, Spa, Culinary, and Security teams to align engineering activities with operational priorities.
• Respond to guest-related engineering issues with urgency, sensitivity, and professionalism.
People & Culture
• Lead by example, promoting a culture of respect, accountability, safety, and pride in workmanship.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of Engineering colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with departmental SOPs, grooming standards, and codes of conduct.
• Encourage engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the Engineering team.
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with local legislation, health & safety requirements, fire and life safety systems, and environmental standards.
• Support emergency preparedness, drills, and incident response procedures.
• Supervise contractors to ensure safe working practices and adherence to brand and regulatory standards.
Financial & Administrative Support
• Assist with budget control, cost optimization, inventory management, and spare parts planning.
• Support procurement processes and contractor coordination.
• Prepare shift handovers, technical reports, and incident documentation as required.
Experience & Qualifications
• Degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Engineering or Facilities operations, preferably within a luxury or ultra-luxury hospitality environment.
• Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Broad technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general building services.
• Experience using CMMS and preventive maintenance systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Fluent in Greek; English language proficiency is an advantage.
