As a Service Operations Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team based in Athens, contributing to global initiatives that impact millions of users across Europe.

About Your Future Role
This is a global role within the Nexi Group, operating remotely across virtual teams with hubs in Milan and Athens. As a Service Operations Engineer, you’ll be responsible for configuring and evolving middleware and application components, with a strong emphasis on process automation. You’ll also provide technical guidance to developers, testers, and business analysts.

Your key responsibilities in this role will be:

• Evaluate change and project initiatives, ensuring alignment with non-functional requirements

• Participate in release management and production committee reviews; support deployment phases

• Lead incident management and initiate escalation procedures when needed

• Plan and size IT resources to meet future business volume demands

• Monitor system availability and review SLA performance

• Manage handover from project development to live service operations

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues proactively

Essential Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

• 3+ years of experience in application engineering, system administration, or similar roles

• Proficiency in Linux/Unix Shell, Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, and relational databases (Oracle/MySQL)

• Programming experience in Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, or JavaScript

• Familiarity with distributed platforms (Kafka, Redis) and resource management frameworks

• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Bonus Skills: 

• Proven success in technical engineering roles

• Experience with asynchronous collaboration and documentation best practices

• Ability to write clean, maintainable code beyond basic scripting
