senior unix engineer

NTT Data Greece team is looking for a Senior Unix Engineer in Athens to work with our clients in the European public sector. As a Senior Unix Engineer, you will be responsible to ensure the provision of a service to clients ensuring that their IT infrastructure and systems remains operational through proactively identifying, investigating and resolving technical incidents and problems and to restore service to clients by managing incidents to resolution. 

Your Role: 

• Provide administration, technical support for the Unix Server environment, including 3rd party and applications, e.g.: 
• Day-to-day infrastructure operations. 
• Infrastructure monitoring, availability testing and reporting. 
• Implements standard changes and service requests. 
• Documentation management. 
• On-call service 
• Manage a team of technical individuals 
• Manage goals and objectives, ensuring mentoring and assistance in meeting as appropriate 
• Own, identify, diagnose and manage issues to resolution 
• Proactively managing and coordinating service improvement initiatives 
• DR / BCP testing 
• Monitoring and reporting of the server environment and SLAs 
• Installation planning and co-ordination 
• Activity report management 
• Incident/Request/Problem follow-up 
• On call responsibilities services are required

Your profile:  

• University degree or equivalent level through experience and professional training. 
• 8+ years of experience in a Unix/Linux mid to big size infrastructure 
• Comfortable with most aspects of administration of systems (LVM, process management, resources, file manipulation…). 
• Extensive understanding of most of the technical aspects and concepts. 
• Ability to write automation solutions in some language (e.g. Python, Ansible, Bash, Perl). 
• Extensive knowledge of protocols: HTTP, DNS, NTP, SMTP. 
• Extensive knowledge network OSI model. 
• Tools: GIT/GitLab, Jenkins, RedHat Satellite, Kickstart. 
• Nagios/Icinga2 knowledge or any other similar monitoring tool. 
• Any cluster-based knowledge. 
• VMware knowledge. 
• Any automated configuration management tool like CFEngine, Ansible. 
• You are fluent in English (at least B2 Level).
