senior it auditor – insurance technology & controls

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior IT Auditor – Insurance Technology & Controls to assess and enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and security of our insurance-related IT systems and processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies, while identifying IT risks and recommending mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and report on audits of IT systems supporting insurance operations, including underwriting, claims processing, policy administration, and actuarial systems.

• Evaluate the design and effectiveness of IT general controls (ITGCs), application controls, data integrity, and system interfaces.

• Assess compliance with internal policies, ISO standards, GDPR, Solvency II, and other relevant regulations.

• Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, compliance, and business units to understand systems architecture and data flow.

• Prepare clear, concise audit reports with actionable recommendations.

• Follow up on audit findings and monitor remediation activities.

• Stay informed on emerging technologies, threats, and insurance industry practices.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in IT auditing, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.

• Strong knowledge of core insurance systems and IT processes.

• Familiarity with COBIT, ITIL, NIST, or ISO 27001 frameworks.

• Understanding of regulatory environments like GDPR, Solvency II, or local insurance regulations.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.

• Relevant certifications such as CISA, CISSP or CRISC.

• Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and ERP systems.

• Knowledge of data analytics or auditing tools (e.g Power BI).
