Intellectica is recruiting a Head of Technology (News Website) on behalf of its client, a leading digital media organization in Greece renowned for its comprehensive news coverage and influential presence in the online journalism landscape. With a legacy of delivering timely and reliable information across various domains – including politics, economy, sports, culture, and technology – the company continues to shape public discourse and inform a broad audience. As part of its commitment to digital innovation and excellence, the organization seeks a dynamic and experienced Head of Technology to drive the evolution of its digital platforms and lead a team of cross-functional developers. This pivotal role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is based in Athens, Greece.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

• Overseeing the end-to-end technological operations of the company’s digital platforms, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security
• Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team of cross-functional developers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Developing and implementing a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the organization’s editorial and business objectives
• Evaluating and integrating emerging technologies to enhance user experience, content delivery, and operational efficiency
• Collaborating with the editorial, marketing, and product teams to support content management, audience engagement, and monetization initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices in web & app development, data protection, and cybersecurity
• Managing relationships with external vendors and technology partners, negotiating contracts and overseeing service delivery
• Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement
• Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management & Information Technology, or a related field
• Master’s degree (MBA, Management & Information Technology, or a related field) is highly preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in web development and technology management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Work experience from the digital media sector is considered a strong plus
• Proven track record of managing complex digital projects and leading technical teams in a fast-paced environment
• Extensive knowledge of front-end and back-end development, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
• Experience with content management systems (CMS), particularly WordPress, and familiarity with SEO best practices
• Strong understanding of web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, and their application in driving business insights
• Familiarity with cloud services, hosting environments, and content delivery networks (CDNs)
• Fluency in Greek and proficiency in English, both written and spoken
