Intellectica is recruiting a Full Stack Engineer on behalf of its client, a digital solutions company in the media-tech, publishing, and platform services space. Based in Athens, Attiki, Greece and reporting directly to the Technical Project Manager, the successful candidate will join a fast-paced engineering team, contributing to the development of scalable WordPress-based platforms, custom web applications, and integrated digital solutions.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable WordPress-based platforms, including custom themes and plugins, using object-oriented PHP and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

• Create modular ACF field groups and Gutenberg blocks to support flexible content structures and reusable codebases that scale across multiple projects

• Collaborate closely with the UI/UX design team to implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces and interactive elements

• Support design-driven implementations and maintaining visual consistency

• Continuously improve platform performance by refactoring code, applying caching strategies, and ensuring alignment with Core Web Vitals

• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication with external services such as CRMs, payment gateways, and newsletter platforms

• Build custom endpoints and support headless or hybrid architecture where needed

• Configure and optimize MySQL databases to support high-traffic environments and complex content structures, applying performance tuning techniques and caching mechanisms to ensure fast and reliable data access

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and manage staging environments, ensuring smooth and secure deployments through Git-based workflows

• Perform routine updates and QA testing across WordPress core, themes, and plugins

• Diagnose and resolve bugs in staging and production environments, and support site migrations, backups, and server configurations

• Conduct code reviews, manage merge requests, and track issues efficiently

• Any other task that may be required from time to time

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience full-stack development, ideally within content-heavy or high-traffic environments

• Strong proficiency in PHP (OOP) and JavaScript (ES6+)

• Hands-on experience with WordPress development, including custom themes, plugins, ACF, and WP-CLI

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and build tools (e.g., Gulp, Webpack, Vite)

• Solid understanding of MySQL, including performance tuning and complex query design

• Experience with SCSS/SASS and frontend frameworks is considered a strong plus

• Fluency in both English and Greek, written and verbal
