Intellectica is recruiting a Data Engineer on behalf of a group of companies with over 20 years of experience in electricity generation and supply from Renewable Energy Sources. Based in Athens, Attiki, Greece, and reporting directly to the Head of Data Analytics and Modeling, the successful candidate will design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and storage architectures that support the Group’s data-driven operations across projects involving wind turbines, photovoltaics, battery storage, and energy markets.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

• Develop and maintain robust, scalable ETL processes, data lakes, and data warehouse solutions that handle large volumes of structured and unstructured data

• Architect and manage cloud-based data systems, primarily on AWS, ensuring secure, cost-efficient storage, processing, and access

• Work closely with Data Science, IoT, and Engineering teams to collect and integrate data from distributed IoT devices and optimize end-to-end data flows

• Implement and administer SQL and NoSQL databases to support diverse data use cases and ensure high availability and reliability

• Develop efficient, maintainable Python scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL); use PySpark for distributed data processing when required

• Contribute to the development of reporting dashboards and visualization tools in partnership with business stakeholders to drive actionable insights

• Promote and enforce data quality, security, and governance standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the data ecosystem

• Other tasks may be assigned from time to time, as needed

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field

• At least 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role focused on data infrastructure and pipelines

• Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing ETL workflows and data pipeline orchestration

• Solid expertise with Python for data engineering tasks; familiarity with PySpark is a plus

• Solid experience with AWS cloud services and building data infrastructure in cloud environments

• Strong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems

• Prior experience in web development is a strong plus; familiarity with web frameworks such as Flask is an advantage

• Fluent in both English and Greek
