Intellectica is recruiting a highly skilled Autonomous Systems Engineer for a newly established AI & Machine Learning spinoff within a leading aerospace, defense, and high-technology group, based in Psixiko, Atttiki, operating under a hybrid working model. Reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate will play a key role in shaping and executing the company’s AI and data science strategy while contributing to the design, development, and optimization of intelligent autonomous systems. Working across the full autonomous systems stack, with close collaboration among engineers, AI specialists, and platform teams, the candidate will deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of software components for AI-driven and autonomous systems
Develop and maintain robust, scalable software using C++ and Python, ensuring code quality through best practices and peer reviews
Support the implementation of core modules, including perception, localization, planning, sensor integration, and system orchestration
Collaborate on architecture design, system integration, and technical enhancements, working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams
Integrate and validate autonomous frameworks and middleware solutions (e.g., ROS/ROS2), including work within simulation and validation environments
Contribute to AI/ML integration and development of software interacting with sensor systems (LiDAR, cameras, GNSS, IMUs, radar)
Support CI/CD pipelines, Dockerized environments, and deployment processes, including troubleshooting and performance optimization across development and production
Ensure system quality, reliability, and safety across the full software lifecycle while contributing to a strong engineering culture
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
1+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, Robotics, or Autonomous Systems, with hands-on expertise in C++ and Python
Solid understanding of autonomous systems concepts, including perception, localization, sensor fusion, planning, or control
Strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and Linux-based development
Experience with Git, collaborative development workflows, debugging, and writing maintainable, testable code
Familiarity with APIs, multithreading, containerization, and modern software development practices
Proficient in Greek and English
