global infrastructure network & telecom manager

Job Purpose

• Analyze, develop, and recommend Network and Telecoms Strategy and Roadmap
• Plan and lead a team that executes Network & Telecoms activities
• Supervise the day-to-day operational care for all aspects of the technology infrastructure: routers, switches, firewalls, wifi, telephony, etc..
• Manage department budget
• Gatekeeper to approve changes to the production infrastructure environment
• Ensure various projects are progressed and completed in a timely manner

Responsibilities

Team Management

• Leads, manages and coordinates a team of Network engineers and architects (on-premise, Hosted and Cloud)
• Defines the skills and talents for Network engineers and architects team members
• Develops, motivates, and directs team members to create a team environment.
• Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout their respective technical domain.
• Responsible for the overall training and development for Network engineers and architects team members
• May function as a project leader for assigned projects.

Service Delivery

• Monitors on a regular basis all agreed service delivery and Infrastructure metrics to ensure that agreed service delivery KPIs are being met.
• Reviews and certifies support documents provided by Infrastructure Architecture teams conform for team
• Recommends and develops solutions for improvement of operational procedures.
• Ensures all systems are monitored and alerts are fed to ITSM tool for management and resolution by the team
• Ensure team proactively deals with alerts and prior to Imerys business becoming aware of these issues
• Participates in the design, implementation, and execution of backup and disaster recovery plan for infrastructure solutions. 
• Supervises the tests and execution of backup and disaster recovery for infrastructure solutions when needed.

Project Delivery

• Monitors on a regular basis all agreed project metrics to ensure that agreed project delivery KPIs are being met.
• Produces a monthly report of all team metrics 
• May function as a project leader for assigned projects
• Monitors team project delivery capacity and ensures team does not overcommit on project delivery.

Technical Strategy

• Prepares detailed evaluations, requirements, and recommendations for Network & Telecoms technologies
• Ensures the design and supervise the deployment and the maintenance of enterprise telecommunications and telephony equipment
• Validates network/telecom system baselines, including validation of documentation
• Ensures network/telecom system security baselines are met and security improvements are implemented across the LAN/WAN environments.
• Generates processes to ensure appropriate WAN, LAN, device privileges and access are granted, ensuring data integrity and security is met.  
• Ensures network/telecom system upgrades and service pack deployments are implemented with minimal impact to production operation.
• Recommends implementation of updated network/telecom systems to deliver cost benefits without reducing production performance and availability.
• Analyzes data from monitoring activities and defines comprehensive, system wide improvements. 
• Adjusts bandwidth on a routine basis and provides input to capacity planning activities.
• Assists in defining and maintaining Imerys network infrastructure and operational procedures, upgrading existing services, and planning for growth.
• Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external network services
• Manage the evaluations of the network systems to eliminate problems and ensure the recommendations for improvements in network operation and management are executed
• Creates and maintains documentation regarding networking infrastructure, standards and projects
• Contributes with the IT Industrial department and evaluates new technology to make recommendations for hardware and software acquisitions
• Supervises and facilitates the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations for network and telecom 
• Manage Asset Lifecycle Management and coordinate the removal of obsolete network solutions when needed.

Standards, Policies and Procedures

• Supports, develops, and communicates technical policies, standards, guidelines and procedures related to Network infrastructure technical domain. 
• Designs standard configurations and patterns. 
• Promotes the Enterprise Architecture process, outcomes and results. 

Financial Management 

• Understands and contributes to the Infrastructure Opex and Capex budget process
• Proactively links Opex and Capex system processes to annual infrastructure budget
• Contributes to the creation and accuracy of project budget

Qualifications & Experience

Education and Experience requirements

• 10+ years technical experience in IT and telecommunications and security systems
• 3 to 5 years experience managing telecommunication engineers and staff
• 5+ years of experience managing Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco solutions
• Management of an international team

Essential

• Extensive knowledge of Cisco solutions
• Good understanding  of Cloud technologies (AWS, Google, Azure)
• Capability to design complex and dual (On Premise/Cloud) architectures
• Global knowledge on the whole of Information systems:  applications, network, systems, mail systems, IT security ...
• Good knowledge on mobility tools: private LTE  networks, …
• Experience on RFP, contract negotiation

Desirable

• Experience of working within a culturally diverse global company
• Conversant in French or another European language would be advantageous
