We are looking for a highly skilled wireless communications expert to join Deutsche Telekom as a 3GPP RAN1 Standardization Delegate. In this role, you will actively contribute to shaping the future of 6G by participating in international standardization activities and collaborating closely with Deutsche Telekom’s internal RAN strategy and standardization teams. The role is based in Greece and involves regular worldwide travel (approximately 6 weeks per year) to attend 3GPP RAN1 meetings.

What we will trust you with:

• Develop 6G concepts and technology optimization for the physical layer of RAN (Radio Access Network) solutions based on Deutsche Telekom’s strategy and needs

• Attend 3GPP RAN WG1 as Deutsche Telekom delegate and prepare, present, defend and discuss contributions to RAN1. Analyze and report on contributions submitted by other companies to RAN1, prepare meeting reports, de-brief and align with internal teams

• Follow relevant developments in other 3GPP groups (e.g. RAN, RAN2, RAN3, RAN4) and O-RAN

• Share information and support other research and engineering teams on topics related to 3GPP standardization incl. participation as main expert in internal strategy and deployment projects

• Prepare internal technical investigation reports, concepts, presentations and actively file patent application

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong teamwork and communication skills. Experience in the physical layer design of 5G and 6G, in particular fundamentals of OFDMA, MIMO, interference control and advanced radio technologies, i.e. based on AI, standardization experience in particular in 3GPP, experience in system engineering from working with a mobile operator, willingness to act as a representative of Deutsche Telekom in international 3GPP standardization body, incl. regular worldwide travel (6 times a year for 1 week).

What you will need:

• Very good knowledge of 3GPP 5G NR and 5G-Advanced specifications / functionality (TS 38.xxx series), LTE/LTE-A knowledge an advantage

• Strong technical expertise in wireless 5G or 6G technologies, including OFDM/OFDMA, MIMO, interference control, signal and channel design.

• Experience in Artificial Intelligence / Machine learning for wireless networks experience with focus on physical layer

• Awareness of and/or participation in latest research in mobile communications, incl. towards 6G

• Experience of attending 3GPP RAN1 meetings and preparing documents for 3GPP RAN1 standardization (or other standards body)

• Strong ability to analyze and find creative solutions for complex technical problems incl. patent applications

• Master's degree or PhD. in electrical engineering or wireless communications

• Fluency in English (minimum C1) with excellent presentation skills incl. ability to act / negotiate in standardization bodies on behalf Deutsche Telekom; knowledge of German language is a plus

• Good social, intercultural and networking skills to support teamwork in project groups (3GPP and internally) as well as ability to work independently (incl. remote and home office)

• Hands-on experience with mobile operator system engineering.
