senior java/spring boot lead engineer (backend architect)

Our Client is seeking a visionary Senior Java Developer to serve as the Technical Lead and Architectural Owner for their mission-critical C4I system backend server. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java 11+, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture, coupled with a proven track record in designing resilient, high-volume, low- latency systems. This role is responsible for governing the security, scalability, performance, and data integrity across the entire server ecosystem, including complex spatial and real-time data integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Architecture & Resilience: Architect and lead the implementation of a scalable microservices architecture using Spring Boot, ensuring high availability and fault-tolerance.
• Data Architecture & Governance: Own the design and optimization of the core data layers, including developing strategies for MongoDB sharding and replication for high volume data, and defining the caching strategy using Java cache or Redis.
• Multi-Protocol Integration Design: Define and govern the secure implementation of all client-server communication protocols, including high- throughput, low-latency communication via WebSocket and secure RESTful API contracts.
• Security Strategy & Data Integrity: Design and enforce comprehensive security measures using Spring Security, including defining policies for OAuth2/JWT access control, API security hardening, and mandating data integrity controls (e.g., audit trails, strong validation rules) for mission-critical data.
• Complex External Integration: Architect and oversee the integration with critical external systems and specialized services (e.g., GeoServer integration via PostGIS), ensuring data synchronization, format translation, and system reliability across boundaries.
• CI/CD and Deployment Governance: Own the operational adherence to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices. This includes ensuring deployment automation, defining infrastructure-as-code requirements, and maintaining the stability and security of the production environment.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide high-level technical guidance, mentor mid-level engineers in core Java concepts (concurrency, multi-threading), and enforce rigorous coding and design standards across the team.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of commercial experience in Java development, with 3+ years leading complex Spring Boot/Microservices projects.
• Core Technology Mastery: Expert proficiency in Java 11+, Spring Boot, and designing scalable enterprise-level applications.
• Data Expertise: Deep experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining MongoDB and utilizing Redis for caching, message brokering, and high-performance throughput.
• Security & Architecture: Proven ability to architect secure systems, experience with Spring Security, JWT/OAuth2, and a solid understanding of distributed transaction management.
• Concurrency: Strong knowledge of multi-threading and concurrency concepts in
Java.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and architectural problem-solving skills with the ability to define technical solutions from ambiguous requirements.
