We are seeking a motivated Cyber Threat Detection Engineer to join our team and strengthen our detection and response capabilities. This role focuses on designing and implementing advanced detection use cases in Microsoft Sentinel. Additionally, you will be managing data ingestion pipelines for security analytics and will coordinate purple teaming exercises.

You will collaborate closely with the internal cyber team and our Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) detection engineers, Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts, as well as the Cyber Threat Hunting and Threat Intelligence teams. You will also collaborate with other engineering colleagues to ensure robust detection coverage and continuous improvement of our threat detection posture.

This position is ideal for professionals with 1–5 years of experience in cybersecurity who are eager to grow in threat detection and analytics.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prioritize, design, implement and tune Microsoft Sentinel analytics rules and detection use cases aligned with threat intelligence and attack frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK).

• Collaborate with SOC analysts, threat intelligence analysts and threat hunters to manage detection logic throughout its lifecycle.

• Coordinate purple teaming exercises to validate detection coverage and improve detection logic.

• Optimize data ingestion from diverse sources into Sentinel, ensuring data quality for analytics, as well as cost efficiency.

• Document detection use cases and operational procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

• Support incident response activities by providing detection insights and improving automation workflows.

• Act as the internal point of contact for MSSP engagements related to Microsoft Sentinel, purple teaming, and data ingestion.

ARE THESE YOUR SECRET INGREDIENTS?

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or related field.

• 1–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in threat detection, SIEM engineering, SOC operations or penetration testing.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel or similar SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar, etc.).

• Familiarity with KQL (Kusto Query Language) or other query languages for writing and optimizing detection queries.

• Understanding of attack techniques and frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, cyber kill chain).

• Knowledge of log sources (Windows Event Logs, network telemetry, cloud logs).

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for detection logic and data ingestion issues.

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams, with internal and external stakeholders.

• Strong communication skills across stakeholders of different seniority levels.

• Certifications such as Microsoft SC-200 (Security Operations Analyst) or equivalent are a plus but not mandatory.

• Exposure to industrial/OT cybersecurity environments is a plus.

• Experience with scripting languages or Azure Logic Apps is a plus.

• Strong command of English language, written and verbal.
