Job objective:
- Handle the Technical Services and Procurement activities for assigned vessels.
- Support the Technical Superintendent in managing the vessel’s budget and ensure cost optimization.
Key Accountabilities:
Reports
- Keep the Certification PAL module updated for each assigned vessel.
- Collate the necessary data required for the preparation of Owners Reports.
- Reducing the frequency of supplies (quarterly or less) and driving procurement discipline is a joint responsibility to reduce OPEX.
Services
- Follow up on the service/repair arrangements as arranged by Technical Superintendent to ensure timely Purchase Orders and Logistical Support are in place.
- Arrange for necessary services for the Annual Surveys (Flag, Class etc.)
- Arrange for Annual and Routine Servicing of Vessel’s Equipment (Gas Instruments/MMC Tapes etc.).
Purchasing & Quotation Management
- Issue Purchase Orders prior to the service delivery.
- Efficiently arrange supplies and services for the ships.
- Ensure that purchasing is done with approved and/or contracted vendors at the contracted prices.
- Negotiate with vendors to optimise costs.
- Follow up with vendor service delivery and update Technical Superintendent in case of potential problems, which will affect approved costs.
Requirements
Education & Work Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain management within the Shipping Industry
Job Specific Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of the procurement process in the shipping industry.
- Basic understanding of the certification and surveys process on board vessels.
- Very good negotiation skills
- Keen to work in an international and dynamic environment
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of PAL will be considered an advantage.
- Fluency in English
- PC literacy
