tax specialist

As a Tax Specialist you will join Alpha Bank’s Tax team and will assist in tax-related issues within the Bank and Group, ensuring the timely compliance and fulfillment of tax obligations to the relevant tax authorities. 

What you will be doing

• Calculate deferred tax of the Bank and Alpha Services and Holdings and prepare income tax notes for the published (standalone and consolidated) financial statements of both entities.
• Participate in the design and development of new or modification of existing products, by advising on their tax treatment.
• Assist in the calculation of tax liabilities (withholding taxes, VAT, Digital Transaction Duty etc and tax returns preparation.
• Assist in the monitoring and reconciliation of e-book platform (MyData) with accounting books and support external filing and reporting obligations.
• Keep abreast of Greek and international updates on tax legislation and evaluate the impact of legislative changes on tax matters.
• Provide support and manage tax-related requests from Branch network and Group subsidiaries.

What you need to have

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or Economics.
• A Master’s degree in Tax Law is desirable.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns.
• Holder of related certifications / diplomas such as (i) Long-Term Tax Seminar by AUEB or Big 4 Academy, (ii) Diploma in IFRS by ACCA, (iii) ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent command of the English and the Greek language (both written and spoken).
• Proficient use of the MS Office applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Critical thinking with sharp attention to detail.
• Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills
• Strong work ethic and team spirit.
