We are looking for a highly skilled ESG Manager for PPP and Concession Projects to join our team.

The Scope of the position:

The ESG Manager will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies across PPP and Concession projects throughout their full lifecycle—including the bidding, construction, and operational phases. This role ensures compliance with international ESG standards, lenders’ requirements, national regulations, and internal sustainability goals, while promoting responsible business practices throughout the project lifecycle.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project-specific ESG frameworks in alignment with corporate ESG strategy and international standards (i.e., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, EU Taxonomy etc.).

  • Ensure ESG considerations are integrated in project development, procurement, construction and operational activities.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with national environmental and social regulations, as well as with ESG requirements of lenders, grantors, and contractual agreements.

  • Act as the main ESG point of contact for lenders, contractor, independent engineers, auditors, and public authorities.

  • Support on the implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and related policies.

  • Oversee community engagement and social impact mitigation programs.

  • Optional skills management of environmental permitting processes and support preparation and submission.

  • Lead stakeholder engagement plans in coordination with project teams, ensuring transparency and responsiveness to community concerns.

  • Maintain a grievance mechanism and ensure timely resolution of complaints.

  • Maintain ESG documentation, records, and monitoring systems in line with audit and reporting requirements.

  • Prepare ESG reports for internal and external stakeholders, including KPIs and progress against ESG objectives.

  • Ensure timely submission of ESG reports to lenders, government bodies, and senior management.

  • Provide ESG training to internal staff, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

  • Promote ESG culture and awareness across project teams and operational partners.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ESG management, ideally within infrastructure, construction, or PPP projects.

  • Proven experience with ESG compliance during the construction phase of large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of ESG standards and frameworks (i.e., IFC, Equator Principles, ISO 14001, ISO 26000).

  • Experience with permitting processes, ESG audits, and stakeholder engagement tools.

  • Familiarity with risk assessment and management tools for ESG impacts.

  • Experience with EU-funded or multilaterally financed PPP & Concession projects will be considered as an asset.

  • Familiarity with PPP & Concession agreements and construction contract structures is desirable.

  • Working knowledge of Greek ESG/legal frameworks constitutes a prerequisite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and across different levels of an organization.

  • High level of integrity and ethical judgment.
