ACT (the American College of Thessaloniki), the tertiary division of Anatolia College is seeking to appoint an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor to cover its immediate needs. The position is a full-time assignment for one year starting September 1st, 2025 with the intention to be renewable upon agreement of all parties.

The full-time professor provides the expertise and knowledge that supports the college curriculum and programs, establishes courses following accepted higher education standards, teaches, advises students and supervises theses and engages students in learning activities. This position is intended to make a significant contribution to research and teaching capacity in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Psychology.

Special emphasis is placed on the professor’s scholarly productivity and experience on attracting and managing funded research at national, international and European levels. The professor will provide administrative support in the BS in Psychology and MS in Industrial & Organizational Psychology programs under the guidance of the Chair of the Division of Humanities and of the Coordinator of the Psychology at ACT.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching discipline.
  • Keep pace with developments in the discipline.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative technologies, methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Develop and use a syllabus for each course within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines.
  • Advise students on an individual basis regarding the courses they need to take in order to graduate.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives, and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports within requested timelines.
  • Participate in discipline committee or program meetings and activities.
  • Review, evaluate, and revise program curricula and practices to assure compliance with professional standards and higher education.
  • Cultivate partnerships with other faculty members within and outside ACT for attracting research funding.

Required Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology or Neuropsychology or Social Psychology or Quantitative/Qualitative Research is required.
  • Published work in peer reviewed journals and conferences commensurable with the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.
  • A minimum of three years of College Level teaching experience is required. College level teaching experience at a US accredited higher education institution is preferred. British higher education experience is also important.
  • Proficiency in the development of the Psychology program’s curriculum and course development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • A passion for the topic and the capacity to deliver results.
  • Knowledge of contemporary developments will be appreciated.
  • Experience working in a diverse work environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills as well as proficiency in online teaching platforms (i.e. Moodle etc.).
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of an American liberal arts college is helpful.
  • Willing and able to teach day or evening classes.
  • Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others.
