Elementary School Technology Teacher 2025-26
Reports to: Elementary School Principal
School Year: 2025-26
ACS Athens, a student-centered international school, embracing American educational philosophy, principles and values, is seeking to recruit an Elementary School Technology Teacher (2025-2026).
Provides instruction, training, and tech resources to elementary students in order to increase technology literacy skills. Coordinates and directs technology activities and skills for students to learn to use basic computer functions and programs.
Duties:
- Lesson Planning: Develop and implement technology lesson plans and classroom activities tailored to student needs and curriculum objectives.
- Collaboration: Teach or co-teach technology lessons in partnership with classroom teachers to support educational goals.
- Hands-On Learning: Encourage students to solve technological problems through hands-on, trial-and-error approaches.
- Project Assignments: Assign projects that help students navigate real-world constraints and foster creative thinking.
- Integration of Subjects: Help students connect math, science, and technology principles to everyday life.
- Research Best Practices: Investigate and share information on effective technology integration and emerging trends.
- Co-Curricular Activities: Participate in activities such as Tech Club, Coding Club, and Literacy Night.
- Technical Support: Troubleshoot common technology issues with the assistance of the computer technician.
- Classroom Management: Prepare and maintain classroom systems in proper working condition, including resetting Gmail passwords for elementary students.
- Assessment Proctoring: Proctor MAP Assessments for grades 3 through 5 twice a year.
- Professional Development: Conduct workshops for staff on technology topics as needed and assist in developing technology training programs.
- Communication: Share information about the technology program with school personnel, parents, and the community.
- Inventory Management: Work with media personnel to maintain accurate records of computer use, inventory, and maintenance; order appropriate software and equipment.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Teaching License in Elementary Education.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming, or Coding; a degree in Elementary Education is preferred.
- Prior experience as a computer teacher is preferred.
- Proficient with Windows OS, iOS (mobile operating system), iPads, Microsoft Office Apps, and Google Apps.
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Strong understanding of educational technology—effective use of technology tools in learning.
- Required: Current contributions to US Social Security and FICA tax.
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in education supplemented by specialized computer courses with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required skills.
