Περιγραφή Θέσης

ACS Athens, a student-centered international school, embracing American educational philosophy, principles and values, is seeking to recruit an Academy Advisory Specialist (advisory takes place within a classroom setting). The Specialist reports to the Head of Academic and College Guidance.

 

DUTIES:

 

  • Runs and manages the Advisory class with 9th and 10th grade students.

  • Makes available to students’ opportunities for individual and/or group counseling for personal, social and academic challenges.

  • Communicates with parents the progress of the students.

  • Maintains a detailed, informative Moodle Shell for the Advisory course in accordance with the departmental standards and benchmarks.

  • Monitors progress on Unifrog and helps students register for the platform.

  • Provides essential information to teachers about students which will result in desirable classroom relationships.

  • Works extensively with the Media Studio and the Institute to facilitate the recording, editing and creation of the ACS Student "Knowledge Series" videos.

  • Provides guidance to students when selecting courses for the succeeding year.

  • Assists students and parents in creating and updating Academic Paths.

  • Conducts informative sessions directed toward issues of concern to the student body (i.e. study skills groups, bullying, etc.);

  • Attends Advisory meetings with the counseling team.

  • Facilitates new student orientation.

  • Monitors quarterly progress reports.

  • Assists students with summer program applications and volunteering opportunities. 

  • Identifies students with potential to receive academic or athletic scholarships in the future.

  • Assists with presentations to parents (new parent orientation, College evening, etc.). 

  • Attends all relevant Professional Development meetings.

  • Keeps the Head of Academic and College Guidance abreast of all relevant issues.

  • Collaborates with the OLP department to facilitate smooth progress of students with learning differences.

  • Works closely with the Head of Social - Emotional Learning as needed regarding student socio-emotional wellbeing.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Teaching certification or equivalent in Guidance Counseling/School Counseling.

  • Academic degrees from an accredited University/College in relevant field (MA).

  • At least two years of relevant teaching experience.

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both orally and written, in English.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as necessary. 

  • Knowledge of technological tools; word, excel, Moodle.
