We are looking for an Engineering Manager / Tech Lead to lead one of our Quick Commerce teams and play a critical role in designing and implementing a reliable, cutting-edge, scalable and efficient real-time platform. The successful candidate will lead a team that owns key technical components and key services that are part of the quick commerce flow.

We have a microservice architecture with over 80 services that collectively handle thousands of requests per second. Our communication methods include both synchronous and event-based approaches. The majority of our codebase is written in Golang. We use REST APIs and gRPC. Our infrastructure is hosted in both AWS and GCP, and we leverage Kubernetes for container orchestration. Our data storage solutions include PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis. Additionally, we are part of the Delivery Hero group, working closely with their Global Services division.

We are a team of energetic, motivated tech enthusiasts who take on the challenge of empowering our customers and internal users. We do that by providing them with the necessary intuitive technologies through creating a wide range of software solutions.

What you’ll do:

• Lead a team of 2-5 talented software engineers, fostering an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.

• Coach, mentor, and support the growth of engineers on the team through regular feedback, career development discussions, and continuous learning opportunities

• Work closely with Product Owners, Developers and other Tech leads as part of an agile team, to build reliable systems and exceed stakeholders expectations.

• Hands-on contribution and deep technical involvement — contribute to design, architecture, and implementation. Regularly contribute to the critical path of various features that the team needs to deliver. 

• Conduct regular code reviews, ensuring high coding standards, robust testing, and adherence to best practices.

• Take ownership of the team-owned services and the technical foundation of our food delivery and quick commerce platform, ensuring it is reliable, secure, efficient, and scalable.

• Architect, design, and develop critical technical components. Own the software development lifecycle end to end. Create a technical roadmap.

• Deliver high quality software responsible for serving hundreds of thousands of requests per minute.

• Investigate new technologies and strategies to help our services scale to larger data sets and quicker speeds into the future.

• Practice modern software development methodologies and agile processes.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all architectural, design, and implementation processes.

What you need to be successful

• University and/or Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.

• 1+ years experience in technical leadership and/or engineering management roles

• Strong background in backend engineering

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and coach a team.

• Excellent knowledge of any modern programming language (with ideally relevant experience in Go).

• Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems (e.g. MongoDB, Redis, Postgres).

• Familiarity with SOLID principles and software design patterns.

• Excellent eye for detail and a self-motivated problem solver.

• Superior analytical skills and a strong sense of urgency and ownership in your work.

• Ability to get up to speed with new systems and concepts quickly.

• Keen to constantly learn and improve your own skills, and not afraid to jump into new things.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills (English is a must).

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud services provider (experience with AWS is a plus).

• Familiarity with AWS SQS/SNS, Apache Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ

• Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and DevOps practices 

• Involvement with open source projects is a plus
