The University of Nicosia invites applications for the role of Payroll & Finance Officer for our upcoming Athens campus. This position plays a vital role in the daily administrative & financial operations of the campus, including payroll administration, managing student financial transactions, handling institutional accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.


*Subject to meeting all regulatory and legal requirements in Cyprus and Greece.


Key Responsibilities:


Payroll Administration:


Prepare and oversee payroll processes for staff and contractors, review and process time sheets accurately and efficiently, and enter data into the payroll system. Manage the timekeeping system, prepare overtime reports, and submit electronic forms to ERGANI PS (hiring, terminations, work schedules, changes, etc.).

 

Student Financial Management:

 

  • Handle student registrations and manage financial transactions, including tuition fees and scholarships.

  • Update student payment records and provide support in payment collection efforts.

  • Assist in communication with students to resolve financial matters and inquiries.


Accounting Operations:

 

  • Record and manage financial transactions, including receivables, payables, and entries.

  • Process and manage invoices, receipts, and financial documentation.

  • Oversee bank transactions and reconciliations.

  • Handle tax and social insurance obligations as per national regulations.

Reporting and System Oversight:

 

  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc administration & financial reports.

  • Maintain and manage payroll & accounting systems to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

  • Support audit processes and produce the necessary documentation.

Qualifications:


Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • A master's degree will be considered an additional advantage


Experience:


Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant role in an accounting or finance department, preferably within an educational institution.


Skills and Competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and payroll programs (e.g. PYLON HRM – Epsilon NET) is preferred

  • A sound understanding and use of Greek Accounting Standards & IFRSs

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
    Fluency in both Greek and English.
