As a Time Charter Freight Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the financial and operational management of our global fleet of time chartered and owned vessels. You will be the bridge between commercial operations and finance, ensuring financial integrity, monitoring voyage economics, and directly influencing shipping profitability.
In this fast-paced and highly impactful role, you will manage high-value reconciliations, resolve disputes, and provide actionable insights into voyage performance that inform strategic decisions. Your work will safeguard Trafigura’s financial interests, from meticulously reviewing charter party agreements to negotiating commercial disputes and analyzing profit and loss.
The role reports directly to the TC Freight Analysts Manager who is based in Athens.
Key Responsibilities
Review, process, and reconcile all invoices for Time Charter and Owned Fleet vessels
Review and negotiate disputes (off-hires, underperformance claims) arising under Time Charter Parties in conjunction with the Operations Department
Monitor and manage payables/receivables in line with charter party agreements
Complete final hire reconciliation statements and manage TC relet-out invoicing
Maintain accurate records and documentation, including updating systems, retaining and filing emails, and ensuring compliance with document retention policies
Process internal recharges and invoices for accounting purposes
Prepare detailed voyage results reporting and analyze deviations from TCE (Time Charter Equivalent) and P&L estimates
Provide regular reporting to management on financial performance and outstanding issues
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Economics, or a related subject
Understanding of shipping terminology and maritime commercial practices
Familiarity with charter party terms and conditions (spot and time charters)
Excellent proficiency in MS Office suite
Fluent English (C2 level or equivalent), both written and spoken
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Shipping, Economics, Finance, or a related field
Previous experience in shipping operations, freight accounting, or maritime finance
Additional experience in tanker operations fundamentals
Experience with shipping ERP systems (IMOS) or freight management software
Previous interaction with chartering or operation teams
