We are looking for a Technical Superintendent with tankers experience to join our Marine & Technical department. In this role, you will ensure that owned ships are managed with the highest quality of standards and their condition is always kept at the top levels, following global quality standards and best marine practices at all times. Other responsibilities include managing side projects related but not limited to dry docks, retrofit and other technical project end to end for the appointed vessels.Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and control the performance of appointed Third party Technical Managers for the owned fleet - this mainly means daily follow up of currently operated fleet
- Follow up on vessels technical matters in coordination with Technical Managers, monitoring of procurement and supplies activity, quality assurance of services provided by Technical Managers with cost effective/saving orientation without compromising in quality
- Provide Technical expertise and support in the new-building and existing fleet technology and development linked with all type of shipping business
- Support the shipbuilding supervision teams and the day-to-day reporting/assessment of their work
- Help analyse/detail ongoing issues & concerns on Trafigura assets to ensure lessons are learnt for future projects
- OPEX analysis and benchmarking, proper and timely planning of Dry Docks plus management of specific projects associated with owned fleet (ie ESD, EGCS, BWTS retrofits)
- Attending the ships in frequent intervals and doing preparation / specification / attendance in dry docks
- Evaluating vessel's repairs requests by the Technical Managers and review the quoted costs/ time involved/ quality in conjunction with vessel's trading commitments
Abilities, Experience and Qualifications:
- Tankers experience required
- Strong marine and technical skills with the ability to apply these into day-to-day operations
- Project management and team working attributes
- Preferred previous experience as a Superintendent
- Previous experience and/or background in one Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Management position within a Technical Manager will be considered as a strong asset
- Fluent in Spoken/Written English and ability to present to Trafigura employees/ external audience
- Solid experience with inspections / vetting of vessels and analysing inspection reports.
- Experience with Marine outfitting and system integration projects
- Experience in day-to-day LPG and LNG operations with established companies in the sector
- The ability to assess risk profile of technical points and accurately express these to technical/commercial teams
- Experienced in introducing new or existing ships into service; new build (including plan approval, site team and commissioning), recruiting shore-based teams, crewing strategy and resourcing, able to review the processes of writing and gaining approval for chartering and commercial acceptance
- Experience in assessing new and second-hand oil and gas tonnage for purchase from an operational point of view
- Experienced in technical management operations and requirements
- Skilled to provide assessment and company-wide systems for safety, performance and purchasing functions
- Willingness to travel worldwide including the potential to be working abroad (at project site / shipyard / sea trial /Trafigura office) for small periods of time
