specialist – financial assistance & planning office (maternity cover)

About the job

The American College of Greece is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Specialist to support the Financial Assistance & Planning Office. The successful candidate will assist students and families throughout the financial assistance process, ensure accurate processing of aid applications, and contribute to the effective delivery of financial aid services across ACG divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process need-based financial assistance requests for ACG units (ALBA, DEREE, and PIERCE) in accordance with institutional policies and committee decisions.

  • Manage office correspondence and mass email communications, responding to inquiries and updating student financial records.

  • Administer Work Study Program applications and documentation, coordinating with campus offices.

  • Advise students and parents on financial assistance options, scholarship maintenance, and related processes.

  • Support scholarship award processes and assist with special projects and departmental initiatives.

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day office operations and support interdepartmental requests.

  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Accounting & Finance, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Excellent command of Greek and English (written and spoken).

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and strong overall MS Office skills.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an academic institution.

  • Experience in financial assistance or student financial services.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably Navision) and student information systems (preferably Jenzabar).

Required Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service orientation.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure.

  • Team-oriented approach and ability to collaborate across departments.

  • Integrity, accountability, and respect for a diverse academic community.

Other Requirements:

  • Availability to work occasional weekends during peak periods.

  • Flexibility to adjust working hours during high-demand periods (late August–early September).
