About the job

The American College of Greece (ACG) is seeking a highly motivated, service-oriented librarian to serve as Senior Specialist at the Kindergarten and Elementary Libraries at the East Campus. The successful candidate will provide various day-to-day circulation and cataloging services to kindergarten and elementary students and teachers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide circulation services including, borrowing, returns, renewals, holds, overdues etc.

  • Catalog new acquisitions, maintain bibliographic information in the library system and prepare books and accompanying material for circulation.

  • Assist students and teachers in using library resources and responds to reference and technical questions.

  • Sort and shelve library materials and ensures that print collections are well organized and maintained.

  • Monitor the use of library spaces and equipment to ensure they are safe and functional for students and teachers.

  • Assist in organizing, events, displays and other activities as needed.

  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of cataloging and encoding standards (AACR2, RDA, MARC21)

  • Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal Classification system

Required Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Greek

  • Strong computer skills, including solid knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
