As Tesla advances in humanoid robotics, we are seeking a software engineer with a robotics background to improve, maintain, and contribute to our in-house framework for accurate robot hardware description. This framework is critical for robot simulation, reinforcement learning policy training, validation of modeling and measurement data, and exploration of new designs and architectures. Bridging the sim-to-real gap is one of the most challenging and important aspects of robotic simulation, and you will be a key contributor to that effort.

Studies in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
0–3 years of experience
Strong Python programming skills; C++ is a plus
Background in engineering, robotics is a plus; familiarity with CAD is a plus
Knowledge of version control tools (Git) and software engineering practices
Strong problem-solving skills
Fluency in English

Contribute to the development and maintenance of the robot hardware description codebase, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Develop tools for processing robot configuration and fleet data.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams involved in all aspects of robot development to track, understand, and ensure consistency and accuracy of configuration data.
Design and implement a robust, automated export process for robot description files.
Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure the integrity of both the codebase and the configuration data.
