What you'll do
- Assemble complex mechanical parts
- Cut material, build tooling, set fixtures, run programs, deburr, and finish parts
- Operate laser cutting equipment
- Use inspection and measurement tools to validate assemblies
- Track and document prototyping processes and results when necessary
- Collaborate with engineers and team members to identify solutions and communicate proactively
- Perform equipment calibrations
- Complete required preventive maintenance
- Provide feedback on manufacturing methods and technologies
- Collaborate with design engineers to understand design intent and develop effective solutions
- Conduct experiments according to safety, quality, and efficiency standards and work instructions
- Design fixtures and equipment for prototype and production testing
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
Key requirements
- Mechanical assembly, engineering drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Measurement and inspection tools
- Material removal processes and laser cutting
- Tooling and work-holding solutions and fixture design
- Equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and prototyping processes
- Manufacturing methods and technologies, mathematical competency, English language proficiency, and safety and quality standards
