About the job
As a Process Engineer in Ceramic Materials Development, you will develop, implement, and optimize production processes related to the manufacturing of advanced ceramic materials, with a focus on conventional and powder processing methods. You will be responsible for improving material flow, equipment performance, and product consistency across the full production lifecycle—from powder preparation to sintering. This includes tooling and fixture design, process mapping, line layouts, material handling, ergonomics, and integration of Lean Manufacturing principles. You will work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, and Production to resolve issues, scale new materials, and sustain high-volume ceramic production with a focus on quality, cost, and yield.
Τι θα κάνετε
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and sustain ceramic manufacturing processes including powder blending, shaping (pressing, extrusion, casting), drying, debinding, and sintering.
- Develop and maintain Process Flows, Control Plans, GR&R studies, Work Instructions, Rework Procedures, and Risk Assessments (PFMEA).
- Lead commissioning and optimization of ceramic processing equipment such as ball mills, spray dryers, isostatic presses, kilns, and sintering furnaces.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce variation, improve cycle time, and increase yield in ceramic powder and part production.
- Analyze root causes of process and material failures
- Collect and analyze process data to optimize key parameters affecting powder flowability, particle size distribution, green density, and final material properties.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap, improve throughput, and optimize energy usage in high-temperature processes.
- Author and maintain standard operating procedures, manufacturing instructions, and training documentation for ceramic process steps.
- Support production operations by working with technicians and operators to troubleshoot real-time manufacturing issues.
Τι θα έχετε μαζί σας
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in high-volume ceramic or powder processing environments is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ceramic powder preparation, shaping, sintering, and post-processing.
- Strong understanding of process controls and data analysis related to ceramic microstructures and mechanical/electrical properties.
- Familiarity with thermal processing systems (kilns, furnaces), powder handling equipment, and ceramic forming techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop data-driven, sustainable solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working across engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Experience with ISO standards, failure analysis, and quality systems in ceramics or similar materials is a plus.
