About the job

Tesla is seeking a Lab Technician to join our team in Athens. In this role, your primary responsibilities will involve laboratory-scale metallic material synthesis, thermal processing, and characterization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, the ability to identify anomalies during experiments, adaptability in modifying test plans as needed, and strong proficiency in metallurgical processing and testing methods. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians to develop next-generation metallic materials and manufacturing processes.

Τι θα κάνετε

  • Operate materials synthesis and processing equipment, including vacuum melting furnaces, milling equipment (ball / attritor / fine milling), muffle furnaces, and tube furnaces

  • Perform powder metallurgy operations: weighing, mixing, compaction, and thermal processing of metallic powders

  • Handle fine and reactive powders inside inert-atmosphere gloveboxes; maintain oxygen and moisture control

  • Perform basic wet-chemistry steps as required (weighing, dissolution, filtration, solvent evaporation, drying)

  • Prepare samples for material characterization (XRD, SEM/EDS, PSD, density, chemical analysis)

  • Operate metallic material testing equipment for routine physical, thermal, and functional property evaluation

  • Identify and report anomalies in samples, processes, or test results to responsible engineers

  • Support process development trials: prepare batches, log data accurately, and maintain full traceability from raw material to finished sample

  • Maintain lab equipment and supplies, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Work within ATEX-classified zones (combustible dust and/or gas), following the associated safe-work procedures, PPE requirements, and equipment restrictions

  • Follow lab safety procedures and PPE requirements for handling fine powders, high-temperature equipment, and reactive materials

Τι θα έχετε μαζί σας

  • Hands-on experience with metallic material synthesis, powder metallurgy, or thermal processing

  • Familiarity with handling fine powders and maintaining sample integrity

  • Understanding of the physics and chemistry relevant to metallic materials and phase transformations

  • Experience working in inert-atmosphere glovebox environments

  • Awareness of ATEX / explosive-atmosphere safety principles (dust and gas zones); prior training or hands-on experience in a classified area is strongly preferred

  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills for lab equipment
