About the job

As a Materials Engineer/Metallurgist in Ceramic Materials Development, you will focus on the research, design, and optimization of advanced ceramic materials, with a strong emphasis on conventional powder processing methods. Your work will span the entire material lifecycle, from powder synthesis to sintering, requiring a deep understanding of material behavior, microstructure-property relationships, and innovation in ceramic systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex material challenges, drive R&D initiatives, and ensure alignment with quality, cost, and performance goals.

Τι θα κάνετε

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and advance ceramic materials, focusing on powder blending, shaping, drying, debinding, and sintering.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation tailored to material development workflows.

  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce variation, improve cycle time, and enhance yield in ceramic powder and part production.

  • Analyze root causes of material failures, leveraging failure analysis techniques and data-driven approaches.

  • Collect and analyze process data to optimize parameters affecting powder flowability, particle size distribution, density, and final material properties.

  • Author and maintain standard operating procedures, manufacturing instructions, and training documentation for ceramic material processes.

Τι θα έχετε μαζί σας

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Ceramics, or a related field.

  • Experience in ceramic or powder processing environments, with a focus on material development.

  • Hands-on expertise in ceramic powder preparation, shaping, sintering, and post-processing, along with a strong understanding of material microstructures.

  • Familiarity with thermal processing systems (kilns, furnaces), powder handling equipment, and ceramic forming techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex material challenges and develop sustainable, data-driven solutions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across engineering, quality, and production teams.

  • Experience with ISO standards, failure analysis, and quality systems in ceramics or similar materials is a plus.

  • Experience with Thermodynamic & phase-stability calculations

  • Experience with Computational materials science / ICME

  • Experience with CALPHAD-based tools + atomistic simulations
