Responsibilities:
- Supervises all technical aspects of the Fleet’s assigned vessels, including maintenance, repairs, safety and environmental protection, ensuring they are carried out in an efficient way according to the international legislation.
- Controls and manages fleet’s technical annual budget.
- Monitors the superintendent engineers’ vessel visits in order to check and evaluate their condition and maintenance progress; to issue further instructions on maintenance and repair activities and; to file, record and report findings to the Technical Manager and Director.
- Reviews quotations and evaluates the purchase orders for all technical spares, supplies, repairs, lubricants and engine stores to assure the vessels’ needs are covered within the budget and the expected quality and quantity.
- Cooperates closely with the claims department for the process of damage claims and supports the Claims department providing all the relevant technical information.
- Participates in the Emergency Response Team and informs immediately the Technical Manager and Director in case of emergency.
- Coordinates and liaises with other departments to collectively provide an efficient ship management service.
- Visits the managed vessels, if required, to assess their condition during PSC and/or attends dry-dock and repairs in order to monitor their progress and ensure their effective completion.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Naval Architecture with minimum 8 years of experience as Superintendent Engineer in a shipping company with bulk carriers or minimum 2 years of sea-going experience on bulk carriers as chief engineer and 4 years of experience as Superintendent Engineer.
- Previous office experience as technical fleet manager will be an asset.
- Ability to direct, motivate, and lead superintendent engineers, officers and coordinators.
- Ability to monitor changing legislation and international requirements and/or developments in the Marine industry.
- Fluency in English.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
