What you'll do
- Design, code, test, and maintain COBOL applications on mainframe or midrange systems
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient, reliable program logic
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and system errors
- Collaborate with analysts, testers, and system engineers to deliver stable and accurate solutions
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects involving COBOL systems
- Document code, processes, and technical changes to ensure clarity and maintainability
Key requirements
- 3+ years' experience
- Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and SQL (DB2 or similar)
- Experience with mainframe environments including IBM z/OS, CICS, and VSAM
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and version control practices
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with attention to data accuracy
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
