The Manager, Cloud Security Engineering is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and operational effectiveness of cloud security capabilities across the digital organization. This role focuses on executing and maintaining cloud security controls to ensure that cloud platforms and services are securely configured, monitored, and protected against evolving threats. Operating within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, the role works closely with Cloud Services, engineering, and governance teams to implement security‑by‑design principles across cloud adoption and modernization initiatives.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the execution of the cloud security strategy and roadmap by implementing and maintaining controls that protect enterprise cloud platforms and workloads.
Implement and maintain cloud security architectures, standards, and guardrails across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS environments.
Configure, operate, and continuously tune cloud security technologies, including cloud security posture management, workload protection, identity controls, and data protection mechanisms.
Partner with Cloud Services, Digital, and Application teams to embed security requirements into cloud design, deployment processes, and DevSecOps pipelines.
Collaborate with Security Operations and Incident Response teams to support detection, investigation, and remediation of cloud‑based security events.
Ensure cloud security controls are implemented in alignment with enterprise cybersecurity risk management practices, regulatory expectations, and internal policies and standards.
Track and report on cloud security posture, control effectiveness, and remediation progress to Cloud Services and Cyber Defense leadership.
Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to engineers and analysts supporting cloud security capabilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with demonstrated focus on cloud security or cloud‑native environments.
Hands‑on experience securing public cloud platforms and services, including identity, network, workload, and data protection controls.
Experience implementing and operating cloud security controls such as cloud security posture management, workload protection, and secure configuration baselines.
Experience supporting security controls in large‑scale, regulated enterprise environments.
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with cloud engineering, operations, and digital teams to implement secure cloud solutions.
Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting hybrid or multi‑cloud environments under shared responsibility models.
Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or serving as a technical lead for cloud security initiatives.
Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices relevant to pharmaceutical or life sciences environments.
Cloud and security certifications such as CCSP, cloud provider security certifications, or equivalent (CISSP/CISM).
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain cloud security risks, control gaps, and remediation actions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
WORKSCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Travel as required by the business (less than 5% domestic and/or international)
Work Location Assignment: Must be able to work in assigned Pfizer office 2-3 days per week, or as needed by the business
